The Bruce-Lockhart Endowment Fund is in honour of the late, great Gresham’s Headmaster, Logie Bruce-Lockhart and will, in perpetuity, provide pupils with the opportunity to come to the School. The Bruce-Lockhart Awards, which are mostly full bursary awards, are given to local young people who show talent or potential in specific fields or areas of School life, whether academically, in sport or in the arts.
OUR AIMS
TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Gresham’s was founded with the purpose of supporting local young children and providing them with a holistic education. The School places great emphasis on the need to widen access to a Gresham’s education for an increasing number of young people.
TO foster TALENT OR POTENTIAL
Talented young people do not always have the opportunity to benefit from a Gresham’s education due to financial reasons, but the Bruce-Lockhart Fund makes this a possibility.
TWO AWARDS in EACH school YEAR
The long-term aim is to give two Bruce-Lockhart Awards in each Senior School year group. A sizeable endowment fund is required in order to achieve this. With help from donors, Gresham’s can make a lasting impact on a considerable number of young people.

REMEMBERING LOGIE
The Bruce-Lockhart Awards recognises and honours one of the great Gresham’s Headmasters: Logie Bruce-Lockhart. Logie was Headmaster between 1955 and 1982. He helped elevate Gresham’s to new heights and had a pronounced and lasting impact on a considerable number of Old Greshamians.

“The teacher must turn and twist and struggle to find the key which will unlock each child’s dedication and enthusiasm, and having found some first signs of potential hang on to them like a bulldog.”
