Whether it is the intricacies of the academic, extra-curricular or pastoral support that the School offers, or the excellent and much used buildings and facilities that we have in place, so much of what Gresham’s offers today is with thanks to the support of others. Please consider supporting our ambitious plans for the future.
Deborah Wilson, née Fenn – E/B ‘99
‘As a result of being at Gresham’s, I was educated in an environment in which I was able to thrive and achieve to the maximum of my abilities. In addition to strong academic results, I excelled in sports not previously available to me and mixed socially with a diverse range of pupils and their families that equipped me for adulthood. Due to being so positively impacted and having had a successful career that enables me to, I now feel it is only right that I give back to Gresham’s and help in whatever way I can in the education of future generations’.
Etienne Duval – Howson’s ’75
‘I arrived at Gresham’s in the autumn of 74 from a very different world: I had done most of my schooling in the French state system. At the age of 17, I got a crash-course in so many different things: English literature, the public school ethos, rural England, Norfolk, English humour and camaraderie, rugby, to name but a few… I was bowled over by the facilities on offer and the talent around me. I still remember (approximately) Logie Bruce-Lockhart’s words as he welcomed new boys and girls to the school, “It doesn’t matter what you excel at, just find out what it is”. I have tried to live by that maxim. Logie made a deep impression on me, like so many others. My four terms at Gresham’s were a privilege and they changed my life. I would like others to be able to enjoy the same opportunity, whatever their background. That is why I support the bursary programme.’
Trevor Yang –
Kenwyn & Farfield ‘79
‘In September 1972 I came to Gresham’s as a bright-eyed eleven-year-old from Hong Kong where life could not have been any more different from that of an English rural boarding school. The following seven years left such an indelible mark, so much so that in all aspects of my adult life there is unquestionably a tiny thread that traces back to my time at school.
To be able to give, be it work, wisdom or wealth (my 3Ws), is a fortunate position to be in, and one that my family and I have embraced in our own modest ways.’
