Philip joined Gresham’s from King William’s College in the Isle of Man where he had been principal for eight years in 2008.
He had previously taught mathematics at Rugby School and Malvern College where he had been a Housemaster for five years.
His working knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and his achievements with curriculum development made him a natural choice to build upon the School’s commitment to improve and develop a first class education programme throughout its schools.
In his five years at Gresham’s Philip made many excellent appointments to the staff as well as establishing the role of Business & Finance Director helping to improve the mechanisms for greater financial control as well as relationships with the School’s financial partners.
Perhaps his greatest pre-occupation was to focus on the academic side of the Sixth Form and improving results and the learning experience at that stage of a pupil’s career here. He initiated a development plan and a vision for the future including a new-look Sixth Form Centre.
Philip enjoyed the sporting side of the School and particularly his rugby coaching as well as taking great pride in the musical and dramatic achievements of the School.
